Opportunity

Interested in strengthening the risk assessment and assurance framework for a world-class asset manager? You could be the right fit for this newly created position

AIMCo is seeking a strong, strategic, and innovative partner to develop and lead the execution of the strategic plan for Internal Audit at AIMCo and to oversee and lead execution of the professional practice of assurance - a pivotal role in shaping the future of the third line of defense.

As a key manager and contributor in the third line of defence, operating with significant autonomy you will be responsible for the end to end assurance methodology, quality assurance improvement program, department reporting, and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities Include:

- In coordination with the CAE, develop the strategic plan for Internal Audit and oversee and lead execution, ensuring alignment with AIMCo's vision, mission, and values
- Ensure the department adheres to Internal Auditing standards and incorporates relevant leading practices, such as data analytics, continuous monitoring, and agile auditing
- Execute the Quality Assurance Improvement Program for the department, conducting internal and external assessments, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing action plans
- Curate and, where appropriate, deliver training to the team, enhancing their technical, professional, and soft skills, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development
- Develop and implement a department approach to agile assurance, enabling the team to respond to emerging risks, deliver timely insights, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders
- Undergraduate in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science or Actuarial Science, Financial Mathematics. Master’s degree or doctorate is preferred.
- Completion of applicable designations, such as CIA, CPA, or CISA is required. Other designations such as CFA, PRM, and / or FRM are desirable.
- Minimum of 12 years of work experience, preferably in the financial services industry and a history of successfully navigating the complexities associated with audit or risk management, preferably across multi-asset class managers, including an advanced understanding of public asset classes.
- Deep and broad knowledge of financial markets, financial concepts, investment strategies, investment products (including derivatives), and their underlying risk drivers is desirable.
- Adept at building relationships with key stakeholders and influencing, negotiating, and developing consensus to drive change.
- Good working knowledge of regulatory expectations and industry best practices in risk governance and related areas
- Experience with Governance, Risk & Compliance technology tools & analytical tools
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo’s core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity and collaboration, and inspires the same in others

One Year Success Measures:
Establishment of an effective and scalable strategic plan for Internal Audit, a robust quality assurance improvement program, and refreshed assurance methodologies.
