The Portfolio Specialist, under the direction of the Portfolio Projects Manager, is primarily responsible for providing services to assigned BIG Brokers and BIG clients throughout the policy period. Acting as a resource and BIG Brokers they assist in maintaining accurate and complete files for current clients. In order to be successful in this role, the incumbent must be able to provide excellent customer service. Explaining features, advantages and disadvantages of various policies, as well as offering advice that helps the client make informed decisions will ensure that clients are adequately coverage. When corresponding with clients the Account Manager communicates accurate information, creating and maintaining a trusting environment that fosters the sale of products and customer retention. The Portfolio Specialist has a duty to keep current on underwriting rules and workflow processes, by actively engaging in training and professional development.

**What does the Portfolio Specialist do?**
- Ensure Brokers are strictly following BIG & Market underwriting guidelines and that the policies are accurate and complete
- Demonstrate excellent customer service when interacting with all Clients, Brokers & Market Partners
- Process an average of 20-30 policies daily (either phone calls or tickets for policy endorsements) ensuring coverage is accurate and complete
- Address Broker or Market escalations, attempting to deescalate the situation & resolve the issue
- Initiate contact with our clients and brokers to obtain and reconfirm any missing information or documentation required for policy completeness.
- Address, and ensure any policy inaccuracies are amended
- Onboard & train or facilitate the training of new Portfolio Specialists
- Onboard & support team members in training of Portfolio Specialists
- Assist the Portfolio Projects Team Lead to complete tasks or projects, as needed
- Participate in Portfolio Underwriting and Portfolio Projects team meetings, as needed
- Participate in Personal Lines team meetings, as necessary

- Ability to effectively use computer software (i.e., Market Portals, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.) to manage spreadsheets, documents, databases, calendars, correspondence, & video conferencing

**Qualifications**
- Completion of secondary education diploma or equivalent required
- Post-secondary education in Insurance, Business/Office Administration, Economics, Law, Finance, or related field an asset
- A minimum of at least 2+ years of experience working as a Personal Lines underwriter
- RIBO licensed
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) professional designation an asset
- Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) professional designation an asset
