**Brief Job Description**

The Corporate Quality Assurance Manager, Programs and Compliance will be responsible for ensuring that our facilities are complaint with both internal and external audit requirements (HACCP, BRC and Customer Audits, Animal Welfare, CFIA and other food safety regulations and certifications), support or lead programs & quality systems implementation (SFCR etc.) to ensure regulatory compliance. The CQAM, Programs and Compliance will drive continuous improvement of programs and processes and establish positive relationships with regulatory bodies. The position reports to the Director, Quality Assurance & Food Safety.

**Responsibilities**

**Food Safety & Quality**
- Manage, plan and perform internal audits including HACCP systems, and enforce compliance with all aspects of the HACCP program and internal audit requirements at each plant.
- Oversee the development, standardization and maintenance of HACCP and Preventive Control plans at all plants.
- Actively engage in, provide guidance and coaching to the plants on HACCP programs and systems, GFSI Programs (BRC etc.) food safety initiatives and support Quality Managers in creating improvement plans to reduce INCs, IRs and CARs.
- Lead, review and approve Food Safety and Quality Risk Assessments as a key function of GFSI audit schemes (BRC etc.).
- Conduct traceability exercises with quality assurance and plant management, identify gabs, continuously improve, and recommend corrective actions and preventative measures.
- Responsible for implementation of QIS, paperless trending analysis, support or lead change management and continuous improvement activities.
- Develop competency in regulatory interpretation, lead, monitor and support Quality Managers with compliance to the Safe Food for Canadian Regulation (SFCR) at all plants.
- Support with label compliance and reviews, and regulatory matters regarding Markel Access.
- Plan and conduct internal and external animal welfare audits, vendor audits, and support in the implementation of animal welfare initiatives.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of Slaughter Inspection Programs for slaughter facilities.
- Support operations and business development teams with projects and continuous improvement initiatives requiring food safety and regulatory input.
- Foster relationship with regulatory bodies and ensure that regulations (CFIA, export, etc.).

**Position Requirements**
- MSc. in a Science related program (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, Microbiology or Biological Sciences).
- Minimum 7 years in managing QA, Regulatory and Sanitation Teams in a food manufacturing facility or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge in quality and food safety principles.
- In-depth knowledge of HACCP and other Food Safety Programs.
- Experience and understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance (e.g. CFIA, FDA, etc.)
