**Description**

The Health Equity Hub Manager reports to the Administrative Director, O'Brien Institute for Public Health and is responsible to the Associate Scientific Director - Population Health. The Manager will be the reporting manager for planned staff members recruited to support the health equity hub. They will direct health equity hub strategic initiatives and operational functions and manage the budget for the hub. They will liaise with the Associate Scientific Director, Population Health for important strategic decision making and will work closely with the O'Brien Institute's support team. There will be times of high volume of work of varying complexity, often involving confidential issues. Work is driven by deadlines, and overtime may be required.

**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
Strategic Leadership
- Oversee and delegate workloads to direct reports, contractors and trainees to ensure objectives and measurables are set and met, which also includes collaborating with the Health Policy Manager on hiring, performance evaluation, performance management and termination of employee contracts
- Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of population health research and use scientific judgement to support innovation within the Hub
- Convene and manage diverse local and regional working groups and manage operational functions of the Hub
- Establish a culture of operational excellence within the health equity hub that promotes professional knowledge, self-assessment, continuous improvement and intellectual integrity; this will include engaging and empowering staff to jointly establish performance metrics, monitor performance and revise activities to optimize Health Equity Hub performance
- Manage an annual budget and administration of budgets to the various Hub activities
- Plan and execute events and forums to discuss health equity directions and supports needed by all members (academic and community)
- Manage complex and evolving interactions of the O'Brien Institute for Public Health and its involved members, with various interested parties with the Hub
- Provide progress reports on Health Equity Hub activities to O'Brien Institute leadership, working groups and funders
- Maintain and grow the network of key contacts required for effective execution of the Health Equity Hub through professional liaison within and beyond the University

Administration
- Work under sensitive deadlines, and manage information flow in coordinating initiatives and committee work
- Act as primary point of contact for internal and external key interested parties in relation to the Health Equity Hub
- Develop and maintain contact with key university administrators, relevant working groups, and team members
- Supervise additional Hub support staff and coordinate Hub-related activities of O'Brien Institute teammates
- Lead the development and maintenance of records, website, and social media presence
- Demonstrate excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, and anticipate, identify and independently recommend appropriate actions to complex administrative/operational/clinical issues
- Support the development, coordination, and implementation of measurement and evaluation of the Health Equity Hub

**Qualifications / Requirements**:

- Master's degree (preferably in health sciences, social sciences, or other related fields)
- Experience with university research programs
- Minimum of five - ten years of progressive work experience in relevant field (health equity and/or research administration), with demonstration of decision-making and consistently high level of service that includes
- Experience building and fostering community networks
- Experience building and fostering volunteer networks
- Experience informing and advising leadership
- Qualitative research experience
- Demonstrably excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong operational administration, with a minimum 3 years' experience in planning, executing, and minuting meetings, and in managing financial, HR, and IT requirements of a university program
- Experience or knowledge of event planning and facilitation
- Highly developed organization skills
- Experience managing a team, delegating work, and coaching staff to meet objectives
- Experience developing and operationalizing strategic plans and support platforms, such as research or policy programs or centres
- Ability to anticipate needs, plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work with little or no direction
- Demonstrated success working cooperatively within team environment
- Professionalism, discretion, courtesy, and respect in all interactions with internal and external partners and interested parties
