Job Overview:
We are looking for a professional and attentive Dining Room Lead Server to join our team. As a Dining Room Lead Server, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and ensuring a positive dining experience for our guests. You will supervise other servers during meals and the duration of their shift. The applicant must be able to work accurately, efficiently and safely and be an effective team leader. Applicant must have a minimum of 2 years experience in a retirement home or a similar dining role with elderly clients and must also have previous supervisory experience. This is a fast-paced role that requires strong communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.

**Duties**:

- Complies with guidelines, regulations as well as established Dining Services department policies and procedures when directing and supporting serving staff.
- Follows and complies with health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures.
- Ensures and maintains that the dining room serving staff work in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Work with the serving team to ensure the dining room is clean and sanitary throughout the shift.
- Assists in various tasks as requested by the Dietary Service Manager.
- Conducts the food, paper and chemical inventory and completes the food ordering in DSM’s absence.
- Replace cook and/or server shifts in the manager’s absence when shifts are not covered.
- Mentor, train, and coach servers as required.
- Assist DSM in Dining room seating plan and meal time changes concerns/conflicts and or meal time changes.
- Communicate to DSM any concerns during meal times or any concerns requiring a resolution.
- Collaborate with the server team to resolve seating and other concerns with the resident’s needs in mind.
- Assists other serving staff in following residents’ diets and food preferences using proper portion sizes.
- Orientates and trains new Dining Room Server employees.
- Promotes and models a positive team spirit within the department.

**Skills**:

- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Basic food preparation knowledge is a plus
- Time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
- Must have previous experience in a retirement or similar dining role with the elderly for minimum of 2 years.
- Must be able to read, write and accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
- Knowledge with Microsoft Word and various computer systems.
- Must be comfortable giving written or verbal directions to other serving staff.
- Be an effective team player.
- Must be able to work accurately, efficiently, and safely.
- Organized and an effective worker and work by example in a leadership role to other serving staff.
- Have a positive attitude and exhibit impeccable customer service.
- Be able to work and communicate effectively with senior residents and families.
- Must have knowledge in creating therapeutic recipes and be able to increase or decrease recipes to meet the needs of the facility.
