**Purpose of the position**

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our product Environmental Compliance team. Your work will ensure our company's adherence to environmental regulatory requirements, like ROHS and REACH, as well as additional environmental stewardship programs. The Environmental Compliance Specialist will play a crucial role in assessing, monitoring, and managing the compliance of our products, ensuring they meet the established environmental certification requirements and extended producer responsibility obligations.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Conduct assessments of products during all lifecycle phases to determine their compliance with environmental regulations
- Communicate expectations and obtain proper environmental compliance documentation from suppliers.
- Assist SMART’s sales team and sales channel with bid documentation.
- Generate and maintain compliance summary reports and documentation.
- Track and investigate environmental legislation changes affecting SMART.
- Identify and implement process improvements related to compliance activities and workflows
- Performing other duties as required.

**Qualifications**
- Highly organized, strong attention to detail and able to manage concurrent assignments.
- Highly motivated fast learner, comfortable in rapidly changing environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Environmental Compliance: RoHS, REACH, WEEE, Packaging, ErP, Proposition 65, TSCA, ENERGY STAR, etc. preferred.
- Agile PLM database experience an asset.
- Previous experience in product compliance, regulatory affairs, or a related field preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering) preferred.

**Supervision**
- This position requires independent work and does not have any direct reports
