Overview:
Lafarge Canada is currently looking to fill a Scale Operator in the Lower Mainland. This position is a Full time position.

The Scale Operator is responsible for the tracking and direction of trucks, and for scaling/ticketing trucks as they leave our sites. The Scale Operator will ensure the front line field level adherence and enforcement of Lafarge safety policies, procedures and processes with all fill site and haul trucks, drivers and operators.

Working in a fast paced environment, speed, accuracy and attention to detail is a must. This individual must be an excellent team player and utilize their strong organization and communication skills to coordinate trucks, working with dispatch to ensure deliveries are “On-Time, In-Full, Ticketed Correctly”.

The employee will be tasked with the day to day office duties, ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of all tasks assigned.

Computer competency and an ability to learn in a fast pace environment is a must. Experience with Excel and working knowledge of Google Sheets also required.

**Vehicle required and ability to travel to all Aggregates Plants.**

**Shifts are normally during the day, Monday to Friday - availability for Weekends and Night shift at times is required.**

**Starting wage of $24.08/hr.**

**Responsibilities**:
**Ticketing**:

- Scale (weigh) the trucks as they present, prior to loading, for tare purposes
- Scale (weigh) the trucks when loaded as they present, ensuring they are legally compliant
- Ensuring proper information is entered into the computer, including truck/hauler information, customer/quote/destination information, product, weights, etc

**Coordinating Truck Activity**:

- Operating one or more scales for weighing the trucks in and out of the pit.
- Designate trucks accordingly to satisfy customer orders; in conjunction with Dispatch
- Direct truck movement in pit (for product location) and to the correct job sites
- Complete the relevant Material Tracking Sheets

**Sales**:

- Ensure all ‘Cash’ Sales transactions are processed correctly and in a timely manner. Complete all other transactions accurately for repeat business
- Customer Service - dealing with customer inquiries and contracted haulers for collections of product
- Track on COD Reconciliation spreadsheet

**Office Duties**:

- General office duties
- Ordering office and safety supplies
- Complete and distribute various tracking sheets as required; internally and externally
- Manage day to day paperwork; tickets, packing slips, etc
- Manage Field Level Risk Assessments
- Record contractor hours
- Maintain cleanliness of scale house and scale area
- Help with any other requests as required

Qualifications:
**Education**:

- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Experience in construction industry an asset: EG - Flagging, Scaling
- Experience with Ticketing of trucks and Weigh Scaling an asset
- Valid Drivers License Required
- First Aid Certification is a bonus
- Computer Competency required (experience with Microsoft Office, Google Drive)

**Knowledge & Skills**:

- Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, etc and Google office is required, and cross platform experience with SAP programs considered an asset (training given)

**Requirements**:

- Valid Driver’s License
- Own transportation - must be reliable (most sites are remote from public transport)
- Travel may be required between Lafarge sites within Vancouver Island
- Long hours and weekend work expected (overtime rates apply), with early starts
