The Al-Mustafa school is an independent Islamic elementary school located in Surrey, BC. The Al-Mustafa school opened in September of 2021 with the goal of providing elementary school education that is deeply rooted in Islamic thought and heritage. The school is located in a beautiful facility that is nestled within the natural environment of Joe Brown park. The school provides families and teachers with the opportunity to be a part of a warm and spiritual community at Al-Mustafa.

The Al-Mustafa school has a Group 1 classification by the BC ministry of education, and will be offering KG to Grade 5 classes for the 2024-2025 school year. We are currently seeking qualified applicants for **1 part-time Education Assistant** position to start in August of 2024.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Assisting the teacher in planning, facilitating and assessing student learning in the classroom (individually and in small groups) through observing, accompanying, assisting and encouraging the students.
- Support the development, implementation and assessment of the performance and behaviour indicators of individual learners to support IEP requirements.
- With teacher guidance and support, produces learning resources/materials and implements strategies to accommodate individual learner needs/styles.
- Assists learners with educational activities and/or independent study projects developed by the teacher.
- Carries out personal, health care, security and safety routines in the school as directed.
- Possesses the needed knowledge, skills and attitudes to align with the holistic learning program implemented at the School and be prepared to support in the successful implementation of the program.

**Qualifications**:
The following qualifications would be an asset:

- Education assistant certificate or be enrolled in an education assistant program.
- Knowledge of pedagogy including instructional strategies, theory of teaching literacy/numeracy, and child development.
- Desire to work collaboratively with an energetic and enthusiastic team
- Education-driven and learning-centered individual, who seeks growth in their own personal and professional life through holistic learning approaches

Pay: $17.68-$25.66 per hour
