Reporting to the Director of Studies, the Lead, Sustainability is responsible for leading the successful identification, implementation and ongoing support of Sustainability initiatives within the Project Development Group (PDG). In addition, the Lead will work with PDG Project and Functional teams and Teck corporate Functions to ensure Teck’s Sustainability Goals and associated initiatives are embedded in the PDG.

To be successful, we are looking for an individual with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills - and knowledge of the scope and specific aspects of Teck’s Sustainability Themes - who can engage and collaborate across a diverse group of functional and discipline leadership both internally with PDG and more broadly across Teck. In addition, we are looking for someone passionate about sustainability, has strong leadership, facilitation and influencing skills, and is a motivated self-starter.

**Responsibilities**:

- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders to ensure full integration of Sustainability within PDG.
- Translate Teck Sustainability objectives into actionable plans and communicate, facilitate and lead the implementation of those plans to ensure projects are delivered in line with health, safety and environmental standards and requirements.
- Support both the Director of Projects and Director of HSEC in evolving Engineering Health & Safety in Design guidance into a broader program to both eliminate significant hazardous exposures to individuals and significant social and environmental (sustainability) impacts to external receptors and communities through design and construction per Teck’s stated Sustainability Goals.
- Engage with PDG Procurement and Contracts team to identify opportunities for incorporating Sustainability Themes - for example, performance criteria and delivery standards - into service agreements and contracts.
- Engage with the PDG Construction team in developing the working model for implementing guidance for ‘Sustainability in Construction.
- Work with teams across PDG to identify and remove barriers to allow project teams/functions to execute sustainability-based solutions across the projects, ensuring Sustainability commitments are upheld and continuously building Teck’s reputation as stewards of sustainable mining.
- Support the Director, Studies in updating and incorporating Sustainability requirements into project governance practices and processes.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline.
- A qualification in project management and/or technical writing would be an advantage.
- Strong computer skills (especially with Microsoft Office Suite).
- Values align with Teck's corporate values and Indigenous People's Policy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good facilitation and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated experience in dealing with an array of stakeholders at various levels.
- Deeply interested and passionate about sustainable development.
- Flexibility is allowed in the work location; however, the incumbent will be expected to travel to the Teck Vancouver Head Office.
