**Sample Prep Technician**

**Full-Time Contract: Until November 2023**

**Location: Vancouver, B.C.**

Reporting to the Sample Preparation Manager and under the general guidance of the Sample Prep Supervisor and/or Shift Lead Hand, the Sample Preparation Technician performs duties related to the preparation of client samples for analysis.

**Job Overview and Responsibilities**:
Primary responsibilities include the following (but are not limited to):

- Prepare geological samples by crushing, pulverizing or sieving according to Standard Operating Procedures without deviation unless authorized by the Manager
- Ensure fast and accurate processing of incoming samples in priority sequence
- Scan crushing / pulverizing QC checks and equipment used and boxes to the next station upon completion of pages, as required
- Perform and document quality checks during sample preparation according to SOP and halt production upon consultation with the Supervisor where non-compliant
- Operate and clean equipment and notify shift Lead-Hand or Supervisor when equipment maintenance is necessary
- Comply with occupational health and safety legislation, BV Group Policies and Procedures, Upstream Minerals Management System Policies and Procedures and ISO standards applicable to the position
- Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Provide feedback to Lead-Hand or Supervisor for possible improvements in his/her work area
- Other duties as assigned from time to time

- Completion of high school diploma
- Experience using heavy equipment an asset
- Excellent English, verbal and written
- Strong organizing and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Able to perform physically demanding tasks and repeated lifting
- Handle weights of up to 40 lbs while on shift
- Able to work independently and as a part of a team
