**A Day in the Life **

The Laboratory Supervisor, Applied Kinesiology is responsible for designing, implementing, coordinating, testing and maintaining laboratory components of undergraduate and graduate laboratory experiences, with a primary focus in areas related to applied and clinical Kinesiology. The incumbent provides safe, quality laboratory demonstrations for students in the courses, and supervises students and teaching assistants (TAs) in the execution. The Laboratory Supervisor also supervises undergraduate and graduate field practica and internships, coordinates departmental teaching purchases, and serves as a resource to ensure lab content is consistent with current understanding and technology.

**As the Laboratory Supervisor, Applied Kinesiology, you will**:

- Work with course instructor or faculty to design, develop and prepare lab demonstrations that are current and relevant to the course curricula;
- Develop learning objectives, lab manuals and associated documents for laboratory demonstrations, commensurate with current technology and knowledge base;
- Collaborate with the course instructor or faculty to ensure laboratory-lecture synchronization;
- Perform demonstrations and experiments, directing students through laboratory activities and ensuring quality and consistency in laboratory delivery;
- Ensure health and safety policies and procedures are followed and that safety is maintained within the lab, addressing, logging, and reporting safety issues;
- Create LMS site(s) for lab assignments and Lecture and Lab components;
- Facilitate the recruitment and selection of Teaching Assistants (TAs), Course Coordinators and/or Lab Demonstrators;
- Provide coaching, support and assistance to Lab Demonstrators and TAs;
- Liaise with community partners, both internal and external, to determine expectations for the experiential and practical field placements for students within programs;
- Collaborate with the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) in managing the curricular and examination requirements for certification programs (i.e., CPT and CEP);
- Manage laboratory resources, including conducting inventory of materials required for demonstrations.

**What you need to Succeed**
- Graduate Degree in Kinesiology or related field (Exercise Science, Sports Science, Human Kinetics, etc.);
- Registered Kinesiologist (Ontario College of Kinesiologists) and CSEP certified examiner;
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, including practical experience with Kinesiology course material and equipment (e.g., exercise physiology equipment), in a teaching capacity at the University level supervising students;
- Minimum of 2 years of CSEP certification experience and experience with Kinesiology research;
- Proven technical skills in Kinesiology including operating and maintaining laboratory equipment;
- Experience designing and implementing exercise therapy programs and functional and exercise assessments;
- Excellent understanding of course materials with related experience teaching at the University level;
- Applied knowledge of current laboratory technologies and techniques;
- Proficiency in standard computer programs and software, including Microsoft Office, Gradebook, and Brightspace (or equivalent);
- Knowledge of and training in chemical safety, transportation of dangerous goods, Canadian Biosafety Standards, experimental procedures, and various sterilization instrument;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including discretion, and confidentiality; 
- Strong multi-tasking, prioritization, and organizational skills, with the ability to adhere to strict deadlines and keep accurate records;
- Ability to solve problems in ad-hoc situations in a logical and effective manner.

**Preferred or Asset Skills **
- Ph.D.; and
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications.

**Salary and Benefit Information**
- Job Grade (M), Salary Scale ($68,600 - $117,600)*;
