**The opportunity**:
The purpose of this position is to ensure that the mannequins (high fidelity and mid fidelity), task trainers, and computers/tablets/virtual reality used in simulation in the undergraduate nursing program are functioning properly and the simulation laboratories (Simulation) are properly set up for teaching and practice purposes. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that the simulation labs are well stocked and that all equipment needed is present and is in good working order.

The Simulation Lap Technician is responsible for the set-up, maintenance, and operation of all computerized human patient simulators, which includes but is not limited to CAE and Laerdal products. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for the set-up and maintenance of the virtual reality hardware and software (e.g., Oculus Quest headsets, UbiSim software).

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Completion of a certificate program in a related health or technical field.
- Minimum one year directly related experience required, preferably in a hospital/medical setting.
- Experience using and maintaining nursing care equipment required, including ability to troubleshoot malfunction and perform minor repairs.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and equipment used in nursing required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Apple computers required.
- Must have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, and organization abilities.
- Verbal and written communication skills required.
- Must have a mature attitude with attention to detail and ability to complete assignments in the midst of distractions.
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team.
- Moderate to heavy lifting required - maximum weight approximately 80 lbs.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and easily. Ability to organize and maintain accurate records required.
- Technical background and ability to setup, operate, troubleshoot equipment (AV, IT, and simulation technology) preferred.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
- Must be capable of performing duties as outlined.
- Demonstrate initiative, independence, reliability, attention to detail, and good judgement.
- No allergies to job-related materials.
