**Category Management at Staples**
Got a love for shopping? Do you ever wonder about the ‘behind-the-scenes’ and which products make it into the customers hands? Staples is one of Canada’s largest retailers and we are looking for a passionate and tech-savvy student who is interested in building a Buyer career path. The Merchandising team at Staples is a front-runner in key categories such as Technology, Workspaces, Office Supplies and Facility products.

**Some of what you will do**
- Support the day-to-day inventory management for a specific product category, focusing on the ‘four P’s’ of Merchandising:

- Product Assortment
- Product Pricing
- Product Placement
- Product Promotion
- Review and proof marketing materials for accuracy
- Participate in monthly Merchandise Department meetings
- Interaction with vendors, community and store associates across Canada.
- Assist with any special projects, supporting B2B or B2C business units.
- Identify opportunities to improve the merchandising experience leveraging all available insights.
- Leverage various analytics tools and provide insightful recommendations / process improvements, supporting our customer needs and business objectives.
- Receive constant support and performance feedback.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Some of what you need**
- Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Strong computer skills (i.e. MS Excel) and an ability to learn new software quickly is critical
- Experience in customer service and/or a retail store environment (or comparable experience)
- Enrollment in a post-secondary education program (i.e. Business or Supply Chain would be an asset).

- Work Term Duration: 4 months (May to August 2023)
- Location of Placement: Staples Canada Home Office - 6 Staples Avenue, Richmond Hill, ON L4B 4W3
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. 37.5 hours per week
- Physical Requirements: Hybrid Work Model (Working in an office environment and/or work from home)
- Weekly Rate: $750 weekly ($20 per hour) or higher, dependent on past co-op’s / work terms completed
