**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
We are looking for someone to join our fast paced dynamic Legal and Legislative Services team. This position works closely with various internal stakeholders to prepare meeting agendas and related material for Mayor and Council. Other duties include processing and assisting with large legal notifications, processing policies, assisting with processing bylaws, processing legal services invoices. As this position supports the Corporate Officer and other Clerk 3 in the department, a sound understanding of municipal regulations and legislation is be preferred.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**:
Completion of grade 12 including or supplemented by administrative courses. Considerable related experience preferably as a Clerk 2 or an equivalent combination of training and experience in a legislative environment.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES**:
- Considerable knowledge of the applicable departmental rules, regulations and other provisions governing the work performed.
- Sound knowledge of modern business office practices, procedures and equipment.
- Sound knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic.
- Sound knowledge of record keeping, indexing, billing and related clerical functions.
- Ability to deal effectively with the public and others in processing a variety of enquiries and complaints and to provide a variety of information and related services.
- Ability to work under pressure at times and function effectively while dealing with contentious matters.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision and exercise initiative.
- Ability to assign, check, and review the work of subordinates engaged in clerical and related duties.
- Skills in the operation of standard office equipment including standard office software.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**:
- A bachelor’s degree in political science or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with process and system design and implementation is an asset.
- Preference will be given to individuals who demonstrated technical and analytical skills in streamlining and automating business processes.
