The Opportunity

**SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES/KEY DELIVERABLES**:
Strategic Visioning & Governance

Champions exceptional professional and interprofessional practice standards, approaches and ethics and is a role model of professional standards and organizational values.

Lead the planning and implementation of strategic and operational programs and services by appropriately establishing a clear sense of priorities and resourcing.

Enables a learning culture and drives professional and Interprofessional practice educational strategies.

Ensures that the mechanisms for strategy deployment are embedded within the clinical operations.

Identifies emerging local, regional, provincial and national issues impacting clinical practice and operations and coordinates an appropriate response.

Develops collaborative relationships with internal and regional partners that align with the organization's strategic plan.

Creates a shared understanding of both current and anticipated demands for clinical services.

Participates as an active (ex-officio member) of the Medical Advisory Committee and the Board of Directors of the Brant Community Healthcare System. Provides support to the Quality Committee of the Board.

Leadership, Practice and Workplace Culture

Provides guidance and counsel to the executive team on nursing matters, such as establishing a clear sense of priorities and resources to pursue and fulfill them.

Creates an environment that encourages practice innovation and creativity to improve client outcomes and the patient and employee experience.

Ensures that processes are in place to engage front-line providers - staff and physicians in decision-making that impacts practice and patient care.

Creates a practice environment that promotes cultural safety for indigenous populations served by the Brant Community Healthcare System and other minority or disadvantaged populations.

Ensures that there are processes in place for the establishment and updating of clinical policies, procedures, and standards for clinical care.

Ensures a consistent standard of nursing practice across the organization and ensures that there is an appropriate mechanism to ensure compliance with standards and regulations in other professional groups.

Provides leadership in developing strategies to recruit, retain and recognize excellence in clinical staff and teams.

Ensures there are processes in place to validate the credentials of all regulated staff

Promotes teamwork within the clinical portfolio. Appropriately mentors, coaches and provides development opportunities for direct reports and ensures that a learning culture is promoted within the portfolio.

Operations Management and Leadership

Leads the annual operational plan for clinical operations in collaboration with the clinical management, medical leaders and department chiefs.

Demonstrates commitment to embedding financial accountability measures to achieve the financial goals established for the clinical portfolio.

Guides the resource allocation process amongst the clinical operations to ensure the achievement of the organization's quality and fiscal and strategic outcomes.

Promotes a collaborative approach in managing the relationships and Collective Agreements with labour partners

Uses data and analytics to monitor and improve the clinical operation's utilization and performance and provides regular progress reports to the senior management team and CEO.

Quality and Risk Management

Accountable for meeting the quality and safety performance targets established through the Annual Quality Improvement Plan in compliance with the Excellent Care for All Act 2010 regulations.

Leads the process for sustaining and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards relevant to the accountabilities of the portfolio.

Contributes to the risk management plan for the organization and oversees the implementation of appropriate risk mitigation strategies.

Prepares the clinical team to manage emergencies and develops operational contingencies to respond to internal and external disasters appropriately.

Monitor the quality of services through appropriate measures and improvement indicators.

Community Engagement and Patient Relations

Establishes partnerships with other provider and community organizations and practices, searching out opportunities for service integration

Partners with regional providers to create clear standards to move patients along the service continuum where this service is unavailable at the BCHS.
