**Data Science (Coop Placement)**:
**Position Summary**

Ottawa, Ontario (Hybrid)

The Data Science coop student will be involved in the data analytics and general data governance in support of innovation projects that contribute to naval platforms in-service support programs. As part of the Innovation Team, the student will help deliver value to the operational team quickly in an agile and incremental way. More specifically, the Data Science coop student will work with business analysts and operational stakeholders to identify problems and find relevant data solutions. The type of solutions could range from implementing data pipelines, building domain-specific data schemas, building machine learning models, implement dashboards that help with decision making - while using modern development techniques and technologies.

**Key Areas of Responsibility**
- Support data initiatives such as Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) of complex assets.
- Contribute to data governance initiatives such as data landscape.
- Develop ETL/ELT pipelines, data mappings and lineage and data quality rules.
- Create AI models based on available data.

**Minimum Qualifications**

Skills and Abilities:

- Experience with data science techniques and toolsets such as Argo, dbt, Nifi, Jupyter Notebook, data modeling techniques and languages and with scripting technologies such as Python, R;
- Knowledge of agile software engineering methodologies;
- Capable of developing strong relationships across the business through excellent customer service; and,
- Excellent communication skills in the English language, written and verbal.

**Education**:

- 3rd or 4th year undergraduate student in software engineering, computer science or related field.

**Preferred Qualifications**

Experience with:

- Military (ideally Navy)
- Software engineering.
- Artificial intelligence techniques and toolsets.
