We are seeking a compassionate, collaborative and client-centred individual to Assist in Coordination of our HomeGrown job readiness program. HomeGrown is a food-based employment program for youth between 15-30 years of age who experience barriers to employment. The 12-week program, in partnership with Service Canada, consists of paid onsite training, workshops and certification training along with 5 weeks of paid quality work experience in the community. This position is responsible for driving a 12-person van, which requires a Class 4 unrestricted license - applicants who are willing to obtain this license within 2 months of hire are welcome to apply.

The Co-coordinator will lead groups of approx. 8 youth participants in developing job readiness skills, and transitioning into gainful, meaningful employment. This position is responsible for leading by example, creating a safe space for everyone to learn and facilitating sessions with a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to empower participants to develop life and food skills that will support healthy lifelong routines. This position works as part of a collaborative team to work with existing Foodshare programming to practice skills and establish work experience (farming, food skills classes and food-sales/service). This position includes potential supervision of practicum students to facilitate, train and further support participants to set and achieve their employment goals.

Key Duties/Responsibilities
**Reviewing Applicants and Participant Selection**
- Interviewing and assessing potential participants with barriers to employment (as defined in the funders guidelines)
- Organize and host information sessions
- Recruit, select, and orient participants
- Meet with Case Managers and support workers for referral process

**Training, Facilitation and Youth Support**
- Source training materials/educators appropriate for participants
- Formalize existing and new resource content to establish foundational program materials: to be used/tailored to meet each group’s needs
- Program planning and implementation (set up training sessions, workshops, and guest speaker arrangements
- Provide one-on-one support to participants to ensure participant success (Individual coaching and counselling)
- Implement a case-management approach to tracking participant development and monitoring participant goals and challenges
- Facilitating various workshops (topics include communication, relationship building, self-care)
- Mentor participants and provide ongoing support and referrals
- Drive participants to various program locations using NFS passenger van

**Work Experience Placements**
- Recruit work experience hosts, prepare and monitor contracts
- Network with potential employers and referral sources
- Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation procedures for participants and facilitators
- Refer participants to appropriate mental health and supportive community resources

**Program Administration**
- Managing program budget, in-kind contributions, and targets
- Prepare written and oral reports as required for program funders (quarterly) and Program Manager
- Consult with Foodshare program staff and Executive Director when required and as appropriate
- Mentoring practicum students from various College/University programs
- Organize and implement evaluation and reporting procedures

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Part-time hours: 25-30 per week

**Salary**: $21.00-$24.00 per hour
