The program also meets the special needs of persons with a disability ensuring their inclusion in the community while respecting their independence.

Qualifications:
Essential:

- French communication skills both verbal and written
- Experience assessing and verifying applicant information to determine eligibility for a program or service
- Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds (persons with disabilities, persons who are financially and/or socially disadvantaged, newcomers, different cultures, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks among competing demands while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse program participants, staff and service providers
- Strong problem solving and conflict management skills
- Sound reasoning and judgment in disbursing public funds
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality, including knowledge of The Freedom of Information Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA)
- Clear and concise English verbal communication skills
- Effective English written communication skills

Desired:

- Knowledge of various community programs and social services

**Duties**:
The EIA Financial Worker functions as a member of a case management team responsible for providing Employment and Income Assistance program services. The incumbent communicates regularly with clients, agencies and other stakeholders by telephone, in writing or in person. The incumbent calculates, processes, and issues benefits in accordance with the Manitoba Assistance Act, Regulations and policies. The incumbent reviews, recommends, orders and/or authorizes expenditures for emergency, health and/or special needs and home & minor repairs submitted by clients. The incumbent enters electronic data for clients’ budgets, pays bills, maintains client confidentiality and performs other clerical duties as assigned.
