Summary/Objective

The Logistics Operations Specialist is responsible for overseeing the operational management of the 3rd party warehouses, co packers and transfer stations. The primary focus of this position is to ensure the continuity of the supply chain by managing the local 3rd party facilities to operate with high standards of efficiency, quality, and service to internal and external customers. Logistics Operations Specialist will lead in ensuring all inbound and outbound carrier platform support and reporting, as well as timely carrier bill management. Further this position will be considered the transportation management system (TMS) key user for the site and be back-up to the Gatehouse operators when needed.

This job will also necessitate a close collaboration with all members of the Supply Chain as well as payable, plant stakeholders and suppliers to facilitate the supplier payment.

Essential Functions
- Manage daily SAP daily activities; Set up transport carriers on loads, ensure proper slotting for coming to site, monitor and ensure timely payment of freight bills, checking in carriers to come on site and directing appropriately
- Manage day to day vendor relations to their contracts, and new initiatives to fulfill business requirements
- Be considered key back-up for all Gatehouse activities around processing inbound and outbound shipments and grading of Peas
- Key point of contact for any Canada 3rd party warehouse, transfer station, or repacker projects or problem resolution
- Share and maintain RCL - 3PL capacity and monitor to ensure capacity plans to support all inventory projections as shared by S&OP
- Create supply vendor in SAP and manage information within Raw Materials operations, Capturing all the changes and amendments within the system
- Other duties as assigned

Competencies:

- 3-5 years’ experience minimum in transport environment
- Proficient with digital tools such as SAP & Office suite
- Knowledge of tendering loads to carriers and auditing freight bills
- Strong knowledge of best practices within a logistics environment
- Problem Solving/Analysis.
- Organizational skills
- Teamwork skills to interact effectively with all levels of management
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
- Analytical and detail oriented

Education

Minimum of undergraduate degree in operational management or supply chain management.

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb stairs, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; work in hot, cold and loud environments.
