**The Opportunity**
The Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Lead will work collaboratively with Public Health, Medical Director, Director of Care and front-line team in developing an organized program to meet IPAC standards among staff, residents and the wider community which are consistent with IPAC evidence-based principles and best practices.

The IPAC Lead will oversee the Infection Control Program and ensure that all departments within The Elliott Community are participating in infection control practices specific to their area.

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Facilitate and lead in the planning of an infection surveillance program and manage outbreaks in consultation with the Public health unit.
- Develops and oversee the delivery of IPAC education to all staff, caregivers, volunteers, visitors, and residents.
- Ensure that directives issued from MOLTC, Medical Officer of Health are implemented.
- Coordinate and lead the development of IPAC policies and procedures and ensure completion of annual IPAC policy and procedure review.
- Ensure that the hand hygiene program is in place following this standard which includes, at a minimum, access to hand hygiene agents at point-of-care.
- Coordinate and lead the roll-out of all vaccination campaign activities. Maintain current vaccines for all residents.
- Reviews infectious disease surveillance results regularly to ensure that all staff conduct infectious disease surveillance appropriately and that appropriate action is being taken to respond to surveillance findings. This includes analysis of trends to reduce infections and outbreaks.
- Works collaboratively with Departmental Managers/Directors to ensure that the home is in compliance with surveillance/screening of staff and contact tracing and management.
- Responsible for monitoring and purchasing inventory, and purchasing PPE supplies to ensure adequate inventory is available. Reviews and select any changes to product selection.
- Works with the interdisciplinary team and ensures that IPAC team/Committee is formed to manage, oversee and implement the IPAC program.
- Convening the interdisciplinary IPAC team at least quarterly and at a more frequent intervals during an infectious disease outbreak in the home and ensuring that IPAC team meetings are occurring and meetings are documented.
- Must hold a current certification in good standing as a Registered Nurse through the College of Nurses of Ontario. Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Long-term Care.
- The IPAC Lead has, at a minimum, education and experience in IPAC practices, and within three years of s.102(6) of the Regulation coming into force, the IPAC Lead has current certification in infection control from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (ss.102(5) and 102(6) of the Regulation).
- Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
- Demonstrated leadership, excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and delegate.
- Knowledge of Microsoft and Point Click Care.
- RAI-MDS experience is an asset.
- Vulnerable Sector Search Criminal Record check.
- Must maintain an up to date immunization record including COVID-19 vaccination series and annual influenza vaccination.
