**The Job Summary**:
**Key Accountabilities & Success Criteria**:

- Prepares, primes, sands, seals, patches and paints furniture, surfaces, buildings, and fixtures utilizing all types of painting materials such as varnish, lacquer, shellac, enamel, latex, epoxy and water-proofing.
- Tapes, repairs and applies texturing, wallpaper, and acoustic layers on a variety of surfaces. Adjusts colors when necessary; utilizes enhanced finishing skills when appropriate.
- Prepares, measures, cut and applies materials to existing, multi-story buildings, alterations, and remodeling.
- Hang wall coverings.
- Graffiti response and removal using a variety of available products.
- Operates, cleans and maintains all painting equipment, including brush, rolls or sprayers.
- Safely stores and labels all materials.
- Interpret Blueprints and specifications
- Estimates time and materials required; keeps records and submits reports of work performed using work order system and communication with manager or designate.
- Erects scaffolding, ladders, and protective barriers as necessary in a manner consistent with safety codes and infection prevention and control standards.
- Use a fall arrest, travel restraint and fall prevention systems and their components to prevent falls and related injury in accordance with legislation and manufacturer’s specifications.
- Offers assistance and advice on materials, designs, and color.
- Provides assistance regarding specifications for repairs and new construction.
- Maintains appropriate service and repair records.
- Complies with patient safety programs and processes including identifying and reporting adverse events/near misses.
- Attends and participates in appropriate safety training or education updates (ie: hand hygiene, emergency code reviews/drills)
- Identifies unsafe conditions or practices and takes appropriate action to address them including reporting or removing hazards
- Researches, orders and inventories equipment parts, chemicals and required supplies.
- Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.
- Meeting participation
- May be required to work or assist other classified staff in the area.
- Other duties as directed

**Qualifications**:

- Graduation from high school, supplemented by completion of a private (in-house), or trade school apprenticeship program that includes theory and on-the-job work.
- Four years as a journey-level painter in a residential and in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting, both interior and exterior.

**Skills & Abilities**:

- Ability to communicate and work well with staff and clients throughout the facility
- Use logic to ascertain solutions to problems, follow verbal and written instructions.
- Mechanical skills and knowledge of hand and power tools and equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks.
- General maintenance skills
- Physical ability to do required lifting and transporting.
- Good attendance record.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Valid Drivers License
- Ability to operate equipment under safe working procedures.
- Ability to complete training as required by organization.
- Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment bending, standing, climbing or walking. Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades. Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely and tolerate exposure to construction hazards.

**Rate of Pay**: $25.44-$26.13
