**The Area Manager provides oversight to the day-to-day construction management of Major Projects. Prepare, supervise and approve the development of Construction Execution Plans, and its implementation plus ensure Lessons Learned are properly documented throughout the life of the project including Project Close-out. This Position should be based out of the Hamilton Area.**
- Provide Constructability input and leadership thru design for the project
- Accountable for the direct oversight of the field activities of the EPC contractor for the execution of in scope contract work within the project
- Assist in the planning and scheduling of the execution phase of the project
- Ensure all field activities within the management division are executed in a safe and efficient manner
- With the area QA Coordinator, provide onsite quality management for the project ensuring that technical requirements such as: specifications, drawings and procedures are adhered to

- In conjunction with the Construction Director, EH&S Manager and Area LPC, conduct random safety audits and inspections
- Ensure that all penetration permits are adhered to and that as-builts are diligently completed
- Provide bi-weekly project updates to the Construction Director and Area Project Manager
- Review manpower requirements in conjunction with physical progress by the EPC contractor and provide recommendations for staffing level changes if required to the Area Project Manager and Construction Director
- Review detailed look ahead schedules of the EPC contractor and ensure compliance with scheduled milestones, level 3 execution schedules, and the project execution plan
- Report on progress of field execution of project and initiate corrective action where appropriate; validate and attest progress levels reported by the EPC contractor
- Provide spot quantity audits for attestation of Earned Value and Progress reporting
- Guide and manage work of direct reports: Construction Coordinators (Mechanical, Civil and Electrical/instrumentation)
- Manage interactions with Unit Operations and Maintenance to ensure smooth construction permitting
- Work with Project Managers during Project Work Management Process to develop scope and execution strategy
- Work with the Commissioning Manager to assist with development of the detailed commissioning and start up plan
- Provide input to the Area Project Manager for trend notices and deviation alerts as required
- Liaison between operations, maintenance, technical groups and outside contractors to ensure smooth construction permitting
- Provide assistance, where required, with pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including pre-safety start-up procedures, testing procedures, pre-commissioning and commissioning schedule
- Ensure turnover of systems and related documentation as per the project Mechanical Completion Procedure
- Responsible for review and sign off of internal PTW labour and expenses for Mill field related activities
- Responsible for providing input to the Area Project Manager and Engineering Manager in formulating responses to Non-Conformance Report and Technical Deviation Requests
- Responsible for assisting the Area Project Engineer in responding to Contractor Request for Information
- 10 to 15 years relevant experience in the Construction industry, specifically working on projects of over 250MM.
- Familiarity with the work scope of other trades (mechanical, insulation, scaffolding), as well as electrical and instrumentation.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints including isometric drawings.
- Demonstrated leadership, work ethic and quality of work.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills and superb interpersonal skills.
- Works well under pressure and has a sense of urgency.
- Results oriented professional with strong time-management and problem-solving skills.
- Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS), other training may be required - OSSA Fall Protection.

Pay: $47,518.15-$84,095.03 per year
