Building Operator
Facilities Department

1155 Yonge Street, Toronto ON M4T 1W2

Full time (35 hours per week)

Overview:
The Facilities department is seeking a Building Operator who will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and minor renovation for all the interior and exterior of a small commercial portfolio. This position will be primarily based at 1155 Yonge Street, but will include some travel to Danforth/Donlands and Bathurst/Bloor assets.

**Responsibilities**:

- Schedules and conducts regular preventative maintenance activities
- Performs minor building, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and equipment repair
- Identifies and investigates deficiencies and equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action
- Responds to employee requests and ensures appropriate action is taken
- Maintains the appearance and upkeep by implementing regular painting and decorating plans and ensuring that all furniture and fixtures are in good repair and operational
- Maintain building exteriors (inspect for damage, perform minor repairs, maintain sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and general landscaping)
- Understands and follows all health and safety policies and procedures. Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, other staff members and building occupants. Promptly reports/takes corrective action to address actual or potentially hazardous situations
- Other duties, as required

General Requirements:

- Experience as a maintenance worker
- Demonstrated skills in light carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting and equipment maintenance
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
- Excellent customer service skills
- Demonstrates initiative and ability to work with mínimal supervision
- Ability to perform required physical duties which may include bending, kneeling, reaching, standing for extended periods of time, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying boxes, tools and equipment
- Familiarity with MS Word, Outlook and Excel an asset
- Must be prepared to respond to emergency situations calmly and efficiently
- Must be comfortable working in a faith-based environment
- A criminal background check will be required of the successful applicant
