ld Director *Start Date:* Anticipated start in June or July 2024. *Key Responsibilities:*
- Direct and oversee Stage 1-4 archaeological assessments and mitigations using field techniques and recording methods suitable for the site type and conditions.
- Ensure all fieldwork complies with the Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists and associated Technical Bulletins issued by the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism.
- Supervise and mentor a team of Archaeological Field Technicians, ensuring quality control and adherence to safety protocols.
- Prepare and maintain detailed field notes, drawings, and maps.
- Ability to respond quickly to changing project and personnel needs.
- Coordinate meetings, regular updates, and manage schedules to ensure the successful completion of the project.
- Provide initial analysis of fieldwork and recommendations for subsequent work
- Establish and maintain professional engagement with First Nations communities.
- Complete professional development assignments and additional tasks as assigned during the off-season. *Qualifications:*
- Valid Professional or Research Licence issued by the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism.
- Thorough knowledge of the 2011 Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists issued by the MCM and associated Technical Bulletins.
- Willingness and ability to perform physical demanding tasks (e.g., hand shoveling, troweling).
- Must have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, prolonged walking, and standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.
- Proficient with modern digital devices and software (GPS, touch-screen tablets, communication software).
- Excellent work ethic and team-player attitude as well as the ability to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal and organization skills, especially time management, problem-solving, and multi-tasking under deadlines.
- Attention to detail is critical.
- Must pass a criminal history/security background check; many projects/ clients are security sensitive.
- A valid driver’s license (minimum Class G or equivalent). You will be primarily driving company vehicles; however, access to personal transportation may be required occasionally.
