**Night Productions Manager |Full-Time Contract (1) Year**

The University Students’ Council at Western University is seeking a Night Productions Manager in the Productions Department on a Full-time, 1-year contract basis.

The University Students’ Council (USC) is the official student association for more than 30,000 undergraduate students at Western University. Incorporated in 1965, we are widely viewed as one of the most reputable and effective student associations in North America. With a $30 million dollar operating budget, 40 full-time staff, and hundreds of part-time student staff and volunteers, the USC provides a robust offering of programs, services, and operations that significantly contributes to Western’s best student experience.

We own and operate two restaurants, a clothing retail store, and a movie theatre; we facilitate the undergraduate health and dental plan, the student transit pass, and late night shuttle busses; we run major events including Western’s Orientation Program, the Purple Concert Series, and Beer Fest; we provide peer support through a comprehensive peer network, the Peer Support Centre, and our on-campus Food Bank; and at our core, we are an advocacy organization, representing the voices of Western undergraduates to the university and all levels of government.

Our organization is led by a team of six student executives who work full-time on one-year terms. With the endorsement of the USC’s 46 student councilors and support of the USC’s 8 student directors, the student executive directs all activities of the USC.

**About the Department**

The Productions Department is responsible for supporting the execution of student and external programming within the UCC building and as well as other locations as requested on Western’s campus. The Productions Department liaises with multiple stakeholders including staff, student leaders, student groups, and external clients to ensure programming is supported with audiovisual, lighting, equipment setup and support. This department is a key support function in ensuring that Western students engage with the USC’s programming.

**About the Role**

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Provide oversight and instruction to PT productions staff and FT unionized staff for events or work occurring outside normal operating hours
- Work collaboratively with the USC's.Productions Department, including the.Manager, Productions Services, Manager, Technical Services & Productions/Technical Coordinators
- Reconcile billings for PT Productions staff labour along with additional services rendered during events
- Documentation of changes/alterations made to events as they occur
- Work with Manager, Productions Services to evaluate PT staff and develop/implement training
- Develop plans to execute both small
- and large-scale USC events.
- Work with Manager, Productions Services to identify and deal with issues which may require corrective or disciplinary actions relating to PT staff.
- Provide support for advancing shows with touring acts such as but not limited to booking accommodations and travel
- Will not normally perform work of the Local 2820 Bargaining Unit
- Work closely with other USC Managers related to requests for programming or support in USC spaces.
- Assist the Manager, Production Services with the annual part-time hiring process.

**Qualifications**
- University or College Degree/Diploma in Technical Theatre production or equivalent.
- Equipment operating licenses or other technical certifications as required.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with audio, lighting and video equipment.
- 3-5 years’ demonstrated experience supervising staff, ideally in a unionized environment.
- Detail-oriented, with excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional project management, time management and organizational skills, with the ability to establish priorities and meet competing deadlines.
- Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decision-making processes
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
