The Customs Compliance Clerk is primarily responsible for processing B2 refunds/amends/blanket submissions to CBSA, reconciliation and recordkeeping, billing and special projects. He/she would perform these tasks based on understanding of customs rules/legislation, regulations and initiatives gained through working in the Customs Brokerage field.
- Sorting incoming mail, scanning, filing and updating system and internal records with all mail received from CBSA (stamped copies, DASs, Notices, audits..etc)
- Works on B2 processing, package preparation and submissions to CBSA (single and blanket)
- Timely system updating and recordkeeping of all Post-entry documentation
- Liaises with CBSA - audits, DAS’s, refunds/amends
- Assists with consulting projects (document retrieval, spreadsheet data mining, etc.)
- FTA management: Registering, updating FTA Certificates in system, communicating with clients/vendors & recordkeeping
- Prepares ad hoc reports as required to complete ongoing projects
- Provides daily support to co-workers with customer/operational concerns
- Prepares transactional and monthly billings
- Timely system updating and recordkeeping of all Post-entry documentation
- Daily and monthly logging and reconciliation of DASs, cheques, SOA, ARL, CARM
- Other duties as required
- Post-Secondary Graduate (College Diploma or University Degree)
- Minimum of 2-3 years of prior experience in a Customs role with good knowledge of Customs rules, regulations, tariffs and post entry corrections (refunds/amends)
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation from the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers (CSCB) an asset
- Prior experience with providing strong customer service with a focus on understanding and satisfying customer needs
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building capabilities: develops relationships with customers and team members, cooperates with internal and external contacts
- Strong English communication skills: demonstrates polite and clear telephone presence
- Possesses strong planning and organizational skills
- Ability to manage stress by being rational, flexible and in self-control
- Ability to analyze data and information and utilize strategic thinking to develop solutions
- Experience dealing with challenging situations in a fast-paced environment

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 18 months
