The Royal Saskatchewan Museum (RSM) is a natural and Indigenous cultural heritage museum located in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, Treaty-4 territory, and the traditional territory of the nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakoda, and the homeland of the Métis Nation. Established in 1906 as Saskatchewan’s provincial museum, the RSM’s mandate falls within areas that are guided by Treaty No. 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10.

The Curator of Archaeology at the RSM:

- develops and maintains an active research program, including:

- developing and leading archaeological field work in Saskatchewan
- publishing in peer-reviewed journals
- acquiring research grants
- supervising graduate and undergraduate students in thesis-based research

collaborating with and maintaining adjunct professor status at either the University of Regina or the University of Saskatchewan
- serves as curator of the provincial archaeology collection at the RSM, including:

- overseeing management of the collection (~2.5 million items)
- engaging with Indigenous communities for matters pertaining to Indigenous archaeology collections
- coordination of and participation in acquisitions and collection growth
- coordinating the use of collections (including loans)
- overseeing the collections database (KeEMu software)
- takes the lead role in developing and curating museum exhibits related to archaeology in Saskatchewan
- has excellent communication skills in order to disseminate information about archaeology through a variety of forums, including:

- media and social media
- professional groups/societies
- public presentations
- A Ph.D. in a discipline related to the position
- Understanding and appreciation for professional collections management at a museum
- Skills to allow for effective communication to a wide variety of audiences
- Interpersonal and leadership skills that promote team-building, collaboration, and a positive workplace environment.
