**Job Summary**

Additional responsibilities include designing/testing/implementing/documenting and supporting Rail traffic control systems and sub-components

**Main Responsibilities**

**Operation Support**
- Day to day coaching and mentoring of assigned staff.
- Maintaining, configuring, and patching Redhat Linux servers
- Lead problem investigation and follow-up resolution.
- Define and implement high availability setup and maintain and improve disaster recovery procedure and scripts.
- Ensure compliance with and oversee development and execution of C&I testing strategies, test plans, and test procedures to validate that the system correctly implements the specifications.
- Ensure compliance with, all appropriate CN IT standards (e.g. Security, Architecture, Project Delivery Methodology, SOX, etc.)
- Automate and optimise support tasks.
- Ensure that established schedules and budgets are met for specified projects; acts as a technical resource in the area of Solution Management.
- Interfaces with rail traffic controllers, mechanical, S&C personnel, as well as transportation officers.
- Deployment and management of software versions for various on-board components for freight operations

**Delivery**
- Participate in the project design phase to establish support structure for solution management
- Work with project team to deliver the production solution, including automation solutions
- Participate in the T2C process to enforce the support excellence standard.

**Practice Evolution**
- Engage with team to define, design and implement suitable automated processes solutions to optimise the day to day support activities.
- Participates in the evaluation and recommendation of new tools and new solution technologies for existing and future business needs.

**Requirements**:
**Education/Certification/Designation**
- Bachelor’s in computer science or College degree with equivalent field experience.

**Skills/Knowledge**
- Excellent knowledge of Linux systems configuration, clustering, and administration, including Redhat 7.4, 8.4
- HP Proliant DL Servers configuration and hardware setup.
- Strong understanding of server and storage concepts, including on premise and cloud computing.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including, specifically L4-L7
- Jumpservers and NoMachine setup and configuration
- NAS devices
- Web servers hosting
- Scripting in Perl/Python/KSH/BASH
- Detail and results oriented.
- Able to communicate with all levels of the company.
- Experience with project planning and deployment

**Experience**
- Minimum of 5 years experience within a Level 3 Technical Support environment.
- Experience should include advanced Linux administration

**Assets (if applicable)**
- Experience using Service Now
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform GCP
- Networking and firewall knowledge
- Kubernetes
- Cockroach DB
- Anthos
- Kafka
- Prior experience with railway operations, dispatch systems, mechanical and/or signalling systems.

**Working Conditions**
- Working with mission critical, safety systems.
- Significant time spent working on computer systems and reviewing technical documents.
- Pressure to meet changing project schedules, priorities and deadlines.
- Required to be on call during system commissioning activities.
- May be required to respond to emergency situations.
- 24x7 support on-call rotation. Work shifts may vary and will include weekdays, weekends and company holidays.
- Work is primarily in an office environment
