Canadian Down & Feather Company is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and detail-oriented individual to fill a full time, permanent position as Bookkeeper.
Canadian Down & Feather Company is a Canadian manufacturer of down, feather, and down alternative bedding products. We sell top-quality duvets, pillows, and mattress toppers through our online store and to national and independent retailers, hotels, and interior design professionals.

**As a bookkeeper, you’ll be managing**:
- Day-to-day Accounting Functions: Manage and provide timely, accurate and efficient control and reporting of all day-to-day accounting functions across Order Entry, Invoicing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Bank Reconciliation, Payroll, Maintaining General Ledgers, and ad hoc projects.
- A/R: Issue account statements, follow up on delinquent accounts, post customer payments with appropriate tender, verify and enter transactions and manage receivables reporting.
- A/P: Verify and post account transactions and invoices, account for HST / GST on all invoices and costs, reconcile monthly statements and related transaction, prioritize due dates and obligations, prepare cheque runs for signing, issue corporate credit card payments when necessary, and manage payables reporting.
- Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile multiple bank accounts with accounting software entries, post missing entries, investigate and determine errors, complete reconciliation for vendor and customer account statements
- Payroll: Support maintenance payroll information and entries
- Prepare routine entries and post financial transactions
- Prepare bank deposits and manage office petty cash, post entries as required
- Maintain all files and records associated with customer and vendor accounts, invoices, statements, etc.
- Receive accounts-related incoming mail, verify and post financial information, escalate important and/or time sensitive issues
- Year / Month End Activities: Assist in the administration and remittance of HST/GST and payroll taxes, ensure all data has been entered, verify accuracy of data, print reports.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting practices and procedures, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, order entry, collections, bank reconciliation, payroll and maintaining general ledgers
- Experience with Cash Flow Statements, Budgeting and Forecasting is an asset, not required
- Experience with accounting / bookkeeping software
- Experience with Sage Business Vision an asset, but not required
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information
- A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel - including data manipulation and filters)
- Computer literacy and skills, including using online search and other tools
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Very effective organizational skills and ability to manage time and various projects / tasks / responsibilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills, respect for others in the workplace, honesty and integrity
- Excellent English oral and written communications skills
- Discretion and confidentiality concerning financial and employee information and files
- 1 - 2 Years formal training in bookkeeping and/or accounting
- 2 years + Experience in a bookkeeping and/or accounting role is an asset
- Post-secondary education (Preferably in Finance/Accounting) is an asset
