**Carefirst Seniors & Community Services Association** is a non-profit community services agency. Since 1976, we have provided community support, home and personal health care services in a holistic manner to seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those with medical needs in the Greater Toronto, York, and Mississauga regions.

With a staff of 500 members (including full-time and part-time staff) and the support of a pool of 850 active volunteers, we serve over 15,000 clients a year, including seniors and the physically disabled; 3,000 of whom are "home-bound" and frail.

**TITLE: Community Service Worker**

**TERM**: Full-time Permanent

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Plan, organize, promote, and lead social, recreational, and educational activities with program instructors suited to the needs of elderly clients, including arts & crafts, games, exercise and falls prevention program
- Greet, welcome, and provide orientation to new Wellness Club members
- Organize, set up, and maintain program areas and facilities
- Provide information and referrals to other Carefirst programs/services, and external community resources
- Supervise and coordinate the work activities of volunteers by explaining regulations, providing direction, input, feedback, and enforcing safety rules
- Contribute to the planning, monitoring, reviewing, and evaluating of programs/services for continuous quality improvement
- Report, resolve, and document clients’ feedback and/or complaints
- Maintain enrolment and attendance records, and compile periodical statistics for programs

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Degree or Diploma in related field
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate; Food Handler Certificate is required
- Knowledge of community resources and services
- Excellent customer service with strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills to work with people at all levels inside and outside of the organization
- Demonstrated leadership skills to lead both large and small groups in activities
- Effective listening and coaching skills to provide feedback and guidance to volunteers
- High degree of judgement and capacity to maintain confidentiality
- Superior time management and organization skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and Zoom
- Proficient in English; fluency in a second language that reflects the community served, such as Cantonese and/or Mandarin, is an asset
- Occasional evenings and weekends may be required
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for work is an asset
- A valid vulnerable sector police record check completed within one year
