**Position Description**:
**Responsibilities**:
- Under the leadership of the Lead, Corporate Budgets, liaises with operational and administrative staff within the CBE on budget processes, including reporting and timelines, and facilitates budget planning, forecasting and year-end reporting.
- Assists with the operational or corporate level budget process and year-end financial reporting analysis, including preparing various budget scenarios for review by Superintendents’ team and completing portions of the Calgary Board of Education annual budgets and year end audit file.
- Estimates and compiles figures necessary to prepare and monitor segments of the budget.
- Organizes, maintains and reports on records of accounts under the direction of the Lead, Corporate Budgets, including completing and verifying changes and resolving discrepancies.
- Works closely with the Manager and other Corporate Planning & Reporting staff to ensure key deliverables are produced on time and accurately and in the approved format.
- Provides training and support to CBE staff on managing budget and expenditures.
- Keeps current records of staffing levels, ensures staffing levels are inaccordance with the approved budget and forecasts variances accordingly.
- Prepares ad hoc financial reports for senior management as required.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- The completion of a related university degree.
- Professional accounting designation required.
- A minimum of 5 years progressively more responsible experience in a budgeting, financial reporting, and/or analytical environment in a large sized organization.
- Public sector experience is considered an asset.
- Excellent proficiency working with large, complex financial management and human resource information systems and desktop tools such as databases and spread sheets.
- An equivalent combination of directly related post-secondary education and directly related experience may be considered.

- Demonstrated high verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Ability to respond to requests in a fast paced environment.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Personal suitability.
