**Residential Coordinator, Ellen House Residence**
**Full Time Contract - 40 hours a week (Vacation and Benefits Included)**
Ellen House Residence is a female adult half-way house designed to accommodate residents who are 18 years of age and older. Residents are accepted from both the Provincial and Federal Correctional Systems where individualized plans of care are developed to assist the women in addressing concerns such as substance abuse, anger management, physical and/or sexual abuse, employment challenges, educational upgrading, and life skills. Ellen House also supports 8 women shelter bed for the Region of Peel. This program assists with housing along with the other supports provided to the half-way house women.
The Residential Coordinator assists in providing a safe balanced adult residential program that is conducive to the emotional, physical, social, and intellectual development of adult females. This position assists the Assistant Manager and Manager of Residential and Reintegration Services with the day-to-day operations of
Ellen House Residence.
**Areas of Responsibility**:
- Assists in providing formal supervision and support for staff, including orientation and onboarding exercise Assists in providing formal supervision and support for staff, including orientation and onboarding exercises, performance reviews, provision of regular supervision, professional development and maintenance of appropriate personnel documentation
- Promotes and enhances effectives programming and case management practices that incorporate strength-based, gender-responsive and trauma-informed practices
- Performs the role of Case Manager for clients simultaneously, which includes: providing written documentation as it pertains to legal, case managerial, client progress and residential records.
- Participates in institutional visitations when required.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluations of all residence programs, policies, and procedures in consultation with the Assistant Manager and Manager of Residential and Reintegration Services
- Liaises and works collaboratively with external partners and stakeholders in order to coordinate information and services
- Participates and assists in internal reviews, audits, and inspections of Residential & Reintegration programs
- Handles crises in accordance with relevant legislation and specified policies and procedures
- Attends relevant meetings and events
- Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job (written/verbal)
- Ensures residential services comply with all relevant legislation, professional standards, funding contracts, and health and safety standards
- Assumes the role of Assistant Manager or Manager of Residential and Reintegration Services in his/her absence, (i.e. holidays, illness, etc.), as required or requested.
- Assumes the role of Shift Leader when on regularly scheduled shifts and performs the role of emergency on-call and support person on a rotational basis when required to provide support and direction to staff.
- Transport Clients to and from appointments or visits to the institutions.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Assistant Manager and or Manager of Residential and Reintegration Service
- A degree and/or diploma from a University or College in the Social / Justice Service field with 2-3 years of experience in a Residential setting; prior experience working with adult females within a gender responsive, trauma-informed and inclusive framework is considered an asset
- Knowledge of the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services (MCSCS) and Correctional Services Canada (CSC) policies and procedures is considered an asset
- Supervisory and leaderships skills in order to effectively provide direction to front-line staff, students and/or volunteers
- Practical knowledge and experience facilitating gender specific and responsive programming.
- The ability to maintain and encourage confident assessment, counselling and program facilitation skills in order to effectively interact with clients using a trauma-informed approach
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with diverse community groups and other stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent problem solving and leadership skills, with the ability to judiciously handle crisis situations with clients.
- Strong community development and collaboration skills.
- Expert knowledge of a wide variety of community supports and referral bases, as well as inclusive, gender-responsive, and trauma-informed care
