**About You**:
As the Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for supporting the business in overall full accounting and bookkeeping cycle and functions on a day to day basis.
You are an experienced bookkeeper with at least 4 years experience preferably in a financial services company or a bookkeeping firm. You have strong attention to detail.
Reliability and a commitment to consistently meeting deadlines while often juggling multiple tasks at one time are characteristics you pride yourself upon. You have excellent organizational and communication skills.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Oversee accounts by verifying, allocating, posting transactions and reconciling entries
- Maintain general ledger and sub-ledgers
- Conduct periodic reconciliations of accounts to ensure accuracy
- Prepare periodic bank reconciliations
- Records cash receipts and deposit accounts receivables into bank accounts
- Receive, approve, pay, and, when necessary, investigate accounts payable invoices
- Take all reasonable discounts on supplier invoices
- Code payables and input into QuickBooks
- Issue and/or enter customer invoices to into QuickBooks
- Ensure that receivables are collected promptly
- Provide information to the Controller who creates the Company’s financial statements on a monthly and quarterly basis
- Prepare appropriate schedules and reports as requested by clients and partners
- Maintain an orderly inventory and accounting filing system
- Communicate (both in verbal and written form) with clients, client suppliers, vendors, and banking contacts
- Preparation of sales tax filings with CRA
- Comply with federal, provincial, and local legal requirements
- Maintain the petty cash fund
- Handle and distribute mail
- Provide other administrative and occasional reception support as requested
- Other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time
**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in accounting or business administration
- Minimum of two (2) years of progressive related work experience
- Experience with QuickBooks
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel occasionally
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Previous experience working for a funeral home is a strong asset
- Excellent communication skills and a competent phone manner
- Fast and accurate data entry skills coupled with strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
- Team player and ability to pitch in wherever needed
- Ability to work independently and with colleagues remotely
- Previous experience working in the cemetery and/or funeral industry is a strong asset
