**Location Description**
- Saskatchewan has approximately 1 million people, 35% living in rural areas. The majority are 2nd-to-5th generation Canadians of European descent; 15% are of First Nations origin, 5% Metis. About 700 people arrive in the province each year as refugees.
The MCCS office is located in the north industrial area of Saskatoon, a city of 210,000 which is a service and distribution centre supporting the surrounding area with commercial, technical, agricultural, transportation, health, educational, and other public services. The MCCS building accommodates MCC staff, a Material Resource Centre, a gathering place, and the offices of several related organizations.
The Meadowgreen neighbourhood of Saskatoon is a community of approximately 4,400 people, located on the westside of Saskatoon. The Meadowgreen neighbourhood is made up of a concentration of low-income rental properties alongside single family houses. Historically Meadowgreen has been a hub for newcomers to Canada and many First Nations/Metis families.

**Job Synopsis**
- MCC is the relief, development and peace agency of the Mennonite and Brethren in Christ churches in North America. MCCS staff reflect MCC’s mission, beliefs and values in the workplace and in interactions with individuals, agencies and businesses in the broader community.
This role requires 10 weeks of 0.8 FTE (30 hours/week) between June 19th and August 26th, 2023.

- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

This person will work with the Community Development team at MCC Saskatchewan. This role supports the Community Development Coordinator in visioning and implementing summer youth programs which include weekly drop-in sessions and a week-long day camp. The Youth Engagement Coordinator will join the MCCS staff team to engage the youth and young adult population in exploring issues related to peace and justice.
In the summer months, this person will co-direct a week-long peace camp for 10 - 15 youth. Each year this camp focuses on peace and reconciliation through building bridges between settler, Indigenous, and newcomer youth. The camp puts an emphasis on living in peace and harmony within community, and with our environment. The individual in this role will also oversee other youth focused programs in Meadowgreen for children and youth.

**Key Responsibilities**
- General Duties:
1. Maintain a high level of integrity, reflecting MCC’s values to those with whom he/she interacts including staff, volunteers and the local community.
2. Model nonviolent peacemaking in the workplace and community through respectful interactions and work relationships.
3. General office work (telephone, filing, computer work, photocopying, etc.) required for program management.
4. Write blog posts and other communication materials to communicate with the broader MCCS constituency.
Specific Duties:
1. Assist in Managing Meadowgreen Programs
a. Co-lead weekly summer programming in the Meadowgreen neighbourhood.
i. Work alongside the Coordinator and volunteers to offer support, ideas, and leadership.
ii. Create opportunities for special events and summer field trips.
iii. Offer educational activities to enhance summer programs.
iv. Assist in planning community events.
b. Co-direct a day camp for youth ages 10-15 in August.
i. Develop promotional material and liaise with community partners to advertise.
