**Position Description**:
The **Professor, Media & Social Media** is responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective, learning-centered environment for students through the design and delivery of curriculum within the School of Media at George Brown. The professor will teach courses to students in all years at the certificate, diploma, and post-certificate level, in the **Media Foundation, Video Design, and new social media** programs in addition to other degrees, diplomas and certificate level courses when required. A practical working knowledge of both film production and current as well as upcoming trends in social media is required.

**Education / Certification / Designation**:

- Master’s in Film or Fine Art are required.
- A PhD in Communication and Culture required.

**Experience**:

- Five (5) full-time years of recent industry relevant experience in media and social media.
- Knowledge and experience with current media stands and social media trends is required.
- A history of scholarship and peer reviewed publications will be an asset.
- Prior post-secondary teaching training and experience in adult instructions techniques, and curriculum design experience will be preferred and will be applied in a variety of teaching and learning settings.

**Knowledge / Skills Set**:
A thorough knowledge of current trends in social media in cultural practices, with proven ability to teach the entry-level practitioner in the classroom and lab setting will be required. Academic leadership experience in a post-secondary program is an asset.
- Must have experience with advanced learning technologies, including online delivery.
- Involvement in innovation and professional development related to teaching, use of technology, and student success.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and life-long learning.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.

**Interview process will consist of a mock teaching experience and, in some cases, a practical skills component.**
