The Labourer II will play a pivotal role in supporting various trades and undertaking minor construction, maintenance, and repair tasks, and requires a foundational understanding of basic trade practices.

- Clean and maintain roofs, including assisting with repairs, installation shingles, snow removal, eavestrough and downspout cleaning
- Move and installs furniture and equipment
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools
- Perform site maintenance, including the removal of garbage and construction debris
- Inspect, adjust, clean and replace air filter panels and air filters
- Lubricate motor bearings, fan bearings, actuators, compressors, chains and linkages
- Wash and re-install reusable filter media
- Clean and wash heating and cooling coils
- Assist plumbing and heating teams as required
- Operate a service vehicle and maintains a truck stock of tools and materials
- Assist a variety of trades staff with their duties
- Ensure a safe and accessible worksite, including proper setup of scaffolding, ladders, barriers
- Report daily on the status of work in progress and condition or equipment or systems to identify required repairs
- Contribute to a safe workplace through active participation in health and safety meetings and programs
- Perform other related duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of Grade 10 (or higher or equivalent)
- One year of experience in the applicable work area
- Valid First Aid Certification is an asset
- Ability to pass and maintain task-specific safety and equipment training, such as fall arrest, confined spaces, aerial work platform
- Ability to pass job-related physical abilities evaluation and a City medical examination (FARE testing)
- Some knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the construction and maintenance of specific work assignments
- Some knowledge of safety precautions and hazards involved with the assigned work
- Ability to use the hand and power tools, equipment and materials used to complete work assignments
- Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions, including the ability to maintain basic records and interpret plans/sketches
- Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate well with others and foster strong working relationships
- Ability to work independently, including multitasking and organizing work tasks
- Physical ability to perform medium to heavy manual labour for extended periods of time in various weather and environmental conditions, including bending, lifting, climbing ladders and working at heights
- Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as wearing steel toed boots, is a requirement for this position
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
