**Position Title**
- Data Analyst, Institutional Research (Term-Certain)**Position Summary**
- Do you have experience with data and using analytical skills to streamline process? Red Deer Polytechnic is seeking a term-certain Data Analyst to join the Institutional Research team.- The Data Analyst, Institutional Research provides expertise in helping Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) understand the current state of the organization. This position collects, analyzes, interprets, and reports on a wide range of data to meet business needs and will identify new sources of data and methods to improve data collection, analysis, and reporting. The Data Analyst creates reports, dashboards and other visualizations and works to recognize streamlining and improvement opportunities for internal and external reporting. This position is responsible for meeting government reporting requirements; data warehouse and other system management; developing, testing, and prioritizing reports; statistical data analysis, training staff on the use of data visualizations and, analyzing data provided to RDP Divisions and Schools in support of institutional enrolment management goals, revenue generation and institutional growth.**Position Responsibilities**
- Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Creates plans and strategies that will identify the various linkages between new and existing data forms, the design and delivery of reports, analytics practices, and data management improvements. resulting in the integration of data models and development of data policies
- Compares and triangulates multiple data sets and analyzes data to ensure that data is reliable, valid, and ethical
- Manages and modifies RDP’s databases, data warehouse, data visualization tool, reports and other systems as required ensuring they meet the needs of our growing institution
- Collaborates with the Office of the Registrar, Finance, Institutional Planning, and Information Technology Services staff to prepare reports and data feeds, analyzes, interprets, and corrects data for internal and external reporting purposes and requirements
- Applies statistical analysis, develops, and maintains high-performance data visualizations, reports, dashboards, and provide ad hoc reporting to dispense critical knowledge and insights which can be used to make sound business decisions and support strategic priorities
- Liaises with technical staff to provide the business perspective during system analysis and design phases
- Generates, maintains, updates, and constantly improves reports from multiple systems based on business needs
- Leads meetings, presentations and discussions with staff and students at all levels of the polytechnic
- Liaises with clients to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives
- Trains faculty and staff on the use of dashboards and visualizations
- Provides support to power users of the dashboards and visualizations
- Establishes strategic internal customer relationships and become the technical go-to resource for answers about dashboards

**Required Qualifications**
- Two years post-secondary training
- Certificate in Business Intelligence and Analytics
- Three to five years related experience
- Knowledge and understanding of integrated information systems, with preference to student information systems including Banner and external systems such as Power BI, MS Azure, ATOMS, MTS and APAS
- Proficiency in MS office and reporting software (Cognos)
- Experience analyzing, interpreting, and reporting statistical information
- Experience in a post-secondary environment preferred
- Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary team
- Experience working with Data Warehouse, Dashboards etc
- Experience with SQL
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and ability to engage effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization
