**About you**

You are someone with a degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or Accounting. You have experience in financial management, including financial reporting and analysis, developing costing models / budgets at the project design stage and risk assessment and mitigation for $5M+ Proposals. You have knowledge and prior experience working with a wide variety of international development funding agency rules, regulations and contracting structures, including experience with donor agencies such as Global Fund, Global Affairs Canada, multilateral agencies (African Development Bank, UNICEF, UNOPS, etc.) and charitable organizations / Foundations. You have good understanding of Canadian GAAP and auditing standards. You have participated in donor financial audits, reviewed complex contracts and agreements.

Fluency in English is required. Professional accreditation (CPA/CGA/CMA) is an asset.

**About the role**

The overall purpose of the position is to assist the Budgeting and Compliance team, with all the corporate Budget process, donor grant proposal budgets, implementation of grant awards and donor financial compliance.

**Key duties and responsibilities**:
**Budget Management**
- Collaborate and work with unit directors and program staff at HQ, regional and country offices to set up donor grant and program budgets.
- Prepare quarterly forecasts.
- Review and validate contractual agreements and financial terms.
- Contribute to development of standardized guidance on budgeting, reporting and donor compliance rules.

**Proposal Development**
- Work with finance, program and business development in developing budgets for proposals.
- Ensure proposal budgets are in line with narrative proposals and are a good estimate of proposed activities.
- Contribute to improvement of standard budgeting and proposal templates, development of standard costs by country, region and area of work or nature of activities.

**Reporting and Compliance**
- Responsible for reviewing and compiling donor financial reports ensuring reconciliation with NI’s general ledger and in compliance with donor terms and conditions.
- Lead development of work plan budgets in close coordination with relevant program focal points and leads.
- Provide training and support to relevant stakeholders on understanding donor financial compliance, identifying financial risks and other best practices.
- Ensure all project expenditures and contracts are following terms and conditions of donor agreements.
- Work closely with Country teams to prepare for donor audits. Oversee coordination of donor audits with field offices for assigned portfolio of projects.
- Assist the Corporate Accounting on month end close entries regarding revenue reconciliation, Indirect and cost allocations.
- Continuously evaluate Projects Financial Risks and update Risk Registers as required for escalation to management, including mitigation measures.
- Participate in feedback mechanism to capture lessons learned from projects in implementation to inform future budget development and build on donor intelligence from a compliance perspective.
