Bayshore Integrated Care Solutions - NRIO is currently seeking a Recreation Coordinator to facilitate Day Programs in Etobicoke, ON. This program is tailored to individuals with cognitive impairments associated with acquired brain injuries and/or other neurological conditions; participants range from young adults to seniors.

As a Recreation Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for developing, delivering, and assessing programs consistent with the needs, interests, and abilities of participants. This role is focused on promoting a fun, interactive, inclusive environment that respects the dignity and individuality of each participant; recognizing their unique cultural, spiritual, and psycho-social needs. This is a part-time position, requiring 30 hours per week, Monday-Saturday.

Job Qualification

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education / Licenses / Certification**
- Degree or diploma in therapeutic recreation, leisure studies or related; education in areas such as human behaviour, neuroscience, kinesiology, psychology may be considered
- Certification in Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) is an asset
- CPR/ First Aid
- G driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract, access to a vehicle and applicable insurance to transport clients in own vehicle is required

**Experience**
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in recreation therapy / activation
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience working with seniors and individuals with cognitive impairments

**Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities**
- Commitment / reliability is crucial

- Ability to respond and be proactive, adapt to the program changing “on the fly” and unpredictable client responses
- Ability to handle difficult situations in an objective and consistent manner
- Knowledge of appropriate crisis, de-escalation, and behavioural management strategies

- Strong planning, organization, and time management skills
- Creativity, flexibility, positive attitude
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Technological proficiency: use of MS Office (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Develop recreation programs to reflect client needs
- Deliver programs and conduct routine assessments to ensure programming is appropriate for clients’ needs and abilities
- Program budgeting: manage a weekly budget / register clients for group outings/events within available funds
- Document progress and maintain accurate records of clients’ participation, following company and provincial guidelines
- Utilize appropriate crisis, de-escalation, and behavioural management strategies as required
- Complete research to assist with enhancing client programs
- Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities
- Adhere to Bayshore Policies and Procedures
- Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the company's Quality Management System
- Participate in proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties; responsible to notify immediate Supervisor of any Health & Safety risks or concerns
- Maintain confidentiality of client and corporate information and discuss same only with appropriate Bayshore personnel
- Attend team meetings as requested
- Complete other tasks as requested

**REPORTING RELATIONSHIP**
The Recreation Coordinator will report to the Bayshore ICS NRIO Program Director.

**STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE**

**PERFORMANCE REVIEW**
Performance will be reviewed on an ongoing basis with a formal review at the end of the three-month probationary period and subsequently, on at least an annual basis. Input will be sought from employees and consultants at the branch and National Development Centre as applicable.
