**Job Details**

**Position Title: Accessibility Consultant (2 positions)**
**Status**: Sessional Contract

**Hours of work**: Between 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday (flexible hours may be required to meet operational demands, including evening coverage and the occasional weekend or evening event)

**Salary**: Academic start salaries are determined by qualifications and years of related experience as detailed in the current Collective Agreement for Academic Employees.

**What you will do**:
The incumbent will be responsible for providing individualized accommodation support to learners identifying with a spectrum of disabilities through an interactive process with the learner involving self-report and review of assessment documentation to assess potential and real barriers experienced in the learning environment, identify potential challenges in particular programs, and recommend appropriate and effective accommodation plans to address these needs. The incumbent will possess abilities demonstrated by culturally inclusive and sensitive active listening, anti-oppressive practice, inclusivity, caseload management, and implementing appropriate resources to support learning, staff, and colleague engagement and rapport.

The Accessibility Consultant will work closely with faculty to understand program requirements, course outcomes, and course delivery in order to design and implement the most feasible academic accommodations and engage to address or identify the needs of learners as they arise. The incumbent will support learning skills acquisition through the design of individual learning plans with instruction on strategy. The Accessibility Consultant will educate, liaise with, and coach College administration, faculty, and staff to ensure institutional policies and practices are consistent with the Ontario Human Rights Code and other relevant legislation, as well as advocating within the College and beyond on a broad range of issues impacting learners with disabilities including the promotion of equity and access through the lens of universal design for learning principles on campus. The incumbent will contribute to a positive, co-operative, solution-focused team environment. Work may be assigned at any one of our campuses or satellite locations.

**What you bring to the role**:
**Qualifications**:

- Possession of a Master’s degree in Counselling, Disability Studies, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Education, or a related field.
- Completion of Learning Strategist Specialist or related program (e.g., LSLD program, Cambrian College) required.
- Minimum of three years full-time experience working with adults with disabilities within a community organization or health care setting, with demonstrated experience coordinating care across sectors, agencies, and interdisciplinary professionals.

**Other qualifications include**:

- advanced skill assessing disability related needs and recommending accommodations to reduce/eliminate barriers;
- specialized training and demonstrated experience interpreting the implications of various types of disabilities within an educational context;
- experience using medical, psycho-educational and other assessments and reports to determine an accommodation plan;
- advanced understanding of interview techniques and professional boundaries - including conflict of interest, confidentiality, consent, and professional discretion;
