The Manager, Course Production plans, executes, manages, and completes the course production goals of the Learning and Teaching Technology (LTT) Division. The position works closely with instructional designers and the course production team to develop a course production plan for each semester. The Manager acts as a planning resource for the Director of LTT and takes the lead in coordinating and planning course production for the Centre for Educational Excellence. The role leads long-range planning of online and blended course production; for the development and implementation of quality assurance processes; and for the implementation of best practices in the use of learning management systems for online instruction. The Manager participates in strategic planning activities to provide input on technology enabled learning and teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and success in learning environments. Maintains currency in new and emerging technologies and approaches in post-secondary learning and teaching, communicates best practices and available resources, print materials and digital media to showcase course production work to the SFU community.

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Education, Educational Technology, Business, or a related discipline with six years of post-secondary experience in project management or online/blended education design and development; experience in a management role with supervision of a multidisciplinary team and troubleshooting/solving problems with teams; experience with project management platforms (e.g. MS Planner) and with document management systems (e.g. SharePoint); or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Excellent knowledge of pedagogy, including the theory, research and practice of online and blended learning teaching strategies to create engaging environments for students.
- Excellent knowledge and expertise in interactive instructional design and technologies, interface design, web-based resources, multimedia technologies, and learning management systems.
- Experience teaching online in higher education.
- Knowledge of online learning management systems (e.g. Canvas).
- Excellent project management and quality assurance management skills (familiarity with Quality Matters); excellent collaboration skills on cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent strategic planning, cost-benefit analysis and resourcing skills.
- Excellent coaching, leadership, team management, and supervisory skills.
- Excellent communication (verbal, written, presentation) and organizational, time management, conflict management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with academic leaders and faculty members.
- Flexibility to travel between campuses and work beyond regular business hours.
- Ability to collect and analyze information to derive conclusions and make recommendations.
- Ability to organize information in a concise, logical, and analytical manner.
- Ability to write project proposals, plans, reports, training materials and articles related to educational technology.
- Ability to evaluate technologies, educational requirements, costs, budgets and trends to make informed recommendations.
- Ability to exercise mature judgment, diplomacy and discretion and to maintain confidentiality.
