Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Financial Analyst is responsible for working with various stakeholders (clinical and non-clinical) to compile their annual budgets, including development of internal reporting to monitor and analyze the actual performance against budget. The Financial Analyst will also support the preparation of Ministry of Health required budget documents and templates for the overall Hospital, as well as other separately funded programs. The Financial Analyst will also contribute to the month-end process and other financial planning and analysis projects assigned.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
**Education**:

- Minimum three (3) year post-secondary degree/diploma in Accounting or Business;
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements;
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or in the process preferred.

**Experience**:

- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in Financial Analysis and/or Financial Modeling
- Knowledge of Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS) is an asset;
- Experience in a public accounting or auditing position is an asset.

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Advanced knowledge of excel,
- Knowledge of data modeling, dashboard creation, and data analysis (Power BI preferred),
- Track record of financial analysis using complex data extractions
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with different teams, and work through complex issues,
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
- Strong time management skills and ability to adjust priorities as request to meet deadlines
- Bilingual French/English an asset;
- Must have demonstrated ability to meet the attendance standards of the Hospital.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Works closely with the Manager of Finance to develop and implement the annual budget that Hospital departments will administer,
- Develops strong collaborative relationships with both clinical and non-clinical teams to build, review, and validate departmental financial and statistical budget submissions.
- Preparation of Ministry of Health required budget documents and templates for the overall Hospital, as well as other separately funded programs,
- Investigate budget variances and provide accurate explanations to support appropriate actions,
- Provide feedback and analysis to Hospital departments on monthly financial results,
- Support Hospital managers and directors in understanding their financial results by providing timely, accurate, and complete analysis,
- Support the Finance team through the annual financial statement audit and Ministry reporting, as required,
- Prepares working papers, account analyses, and account reconciliations for year-end, as required,
- Calculates, compiles, and prepares adjusting journal entries, as required,
- Shares in the responsibility for ensuring the integrity off the financial and statistical data,
- Participates with the Finance team in initiating and implementing process improvements,
- Respects an environment that protects the confidentiality of patients, staff and activities of Pembroke Regional Hospital,
- Performs other duties as assigned by higher authority, which are unplanned, or of a transient nature and are consistent with the above job scope of duties,
- Performs the responsibilities of the position within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in any applicable legislation and regulations,
