The Francis family business has been serving the National Capital region since October 1933. The business has continued to grow and remains a pillar in the Ottawa business community. Today our business includes fuel oil, propane and natural gas equipment installation and service, air conditioning installation and service, air quality control equipment, and fuel supply to gas bars and service stations throughout eastern Ontario and western Quebec.
We are currently searching for a **Controller** who will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations, reporting directly to the President. You will play a key role in the company's financial health by ensuring accurate accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. This is a hands-on role that requires a process minded professional with superior organizational and documentation skills, a strong customer service focus and the ability to work independently.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Oversee daily accounting operations including bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger management.
- Lead month end and year end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
- Develop and manage the company's annual budget and financial forecasts, providing analysis to support strategic decision making.
- Maintain cash flow forecasting to ensure efficient management of working capital.
**Key Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (Accounting designation is an asset)
- 5+ years relevant work experience.
- Strong understanding of ASPE and IFRS and accounting principles.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial data clearly.
- Strong proficiency using Microsoft Excel and accounting software platforms.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and meet dead lines.
