The Position

Day to Day Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain corporate attendance records in accordance with company policy and the Attendance Management Program; conduct attendance analysis and report findings; recommend strategies to minimize time away from work
- Conduct investigations as needed, prepare reports, and make recommendations related to performance management
- Assist with complaints related to workplace harassment and discrimination; conduct investigations and corrective actions
- Assist with the administration of the grievance procedure
- Manage leave of absence, short-term and long-term disability claims
- Provide policy and procedure guidance to employees and management; respond to HR related inquiries
- Provide guidance to department leads on probationary and performance appraisals
- Understand payroll and scheduling systems thoroughly to provide accurate guidance on employee issues
- Adhere to and support current policies/procedures; assist in the new policy development
- Collaborate with the HR team and department managers on the development of effective recruitment strategies
- Identify staffing needs due to attrition, seasonal work volumes, etc.
- Coordinate and administer full-cycle recruitment from job posting to employment offer
- Participate in new hire onboarding and orientation
- Maintain HR information systems, as well as employee files and information in a confidential manner, compliant with all privacy legislation
- Participate in the coordination of health and wellness initiatives, RRSP enrolment and corporate recognition programs
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, legislative and regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law
- Other duties as assigned

**Education**:

- Post secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration
- CHRP designation preferred, working toward CHRL
- Safety certification, CPR and first aid certification an asset
- Knowledge of Employment Standards Act; Ontario Human Rights Act; Labour Relations Act; Occupational Health & Safety Act and WSIB

Experience_:_
- Minimum 3 years’ Generalist experience in employee/ labour relations, recruitment, retention and engagement
- 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing, unionized environment preferred
- 3 years’ experiencing developing and coordinating programs including: training, orientation, probation/performance monitoring and attendance management
- 3 years’ experience in occupational and non-occupational disability management preferred

Qualification/Competencies:

- Thorough knowledge of all legislation pertaining to human resources including: ESA; Human Rights; Occupational Health & Safety Act; WSIB and Privacy Legislation
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints and works well under pressure in a constantly changing environment
- Possesses personal integrity, accountability and professionalism and is a trusted advisor to all levels of the business
- Excellent attendance record
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy
- Possesses a positive attitude and works well as a member of a team
- Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and presentation skills
- Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent computer skills required - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Power Point, Excel and Word
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently or with supervision

Work Environment/Health & Safety:

- Use of personal protective equipment or clothing required to perform the job tasks safely and promotes their use
- Reports unsafe or hazardous situations or work practices in a timely manner
- Implements the Occupational Health and Safety Act or applicable regulations
- Accountable and responsible to proactively and effectively resolve issues
- Takes the initiative to improve the workplace
