**Youth Worker - Youth Center Coordinator**

**Job Summary**:Spend each day making a positive a difference in the lives of Abbotsford’s youth Take the lead at one of our Youth Centres, participate in creating the programming and assist in guiding our team of youth workers. Build relationships with the youth, be the person that youth know they can count on to be there every day and help to create a youth centre community where youth can thrive. **What you will do each day**:

- build connection with youth in our youth centres, at local schools and in our other programs
- create a safe atmosphere where youth can thrive and encourage positive peer interaction
- work as a part of the AYC Leadership Team to develop the programming
- take responsibility for one of our youth centres and for one or two of our other programs
- assist us to support, direct and develop our team of youth workers and volunteers
- make a difference in the lives of youth

**What we need from you**:

- enthusiasm, patience, and a sense of humour
- a positive view of youth and an understanding of youth issues
- experience working with youth is required / experience in volunteer or staff supervision is an asset
- experience planning and facilitating youth programs and activities
- a car that you can use on a daily basis to get to and from programs (we reimburse for mileage)
- diploma or degree in a related field is an asset
- a willingness to put yourself ‘out there’ and approach youth and parents to talk about our programs
- clean criminal record check

**When we need you**:

- shifts are during the day, evening, and occasionally on the weekends
- you can expect to work ‘day shifts’ 2 - 4 days a week and you can expect to work ‘afternoon evening’ shifts 1 - 2 days a week.
