**Purpose**:
The Operations Planner, also known as the Short Term Mine Scheduler, will provide direction and technical support to the mine operations team by creating, maintaining, and communicating short term mine plans and schedules. This position will report directly to the Engineering Supervisor.

**Essential Duties**:

- Create, maintain, and communicate mine plans and schedules with a two week to three month time horizon each week.
- Generate reports on mine performance KPIs and schedule compliance
- Perform underground site inspections to confirm mine plan accuracy.
- Support midterm planners in creating quarterly forecast and annual budget schedules.
- Support continuous improvement (“Full Potential”) initiatives by completing analysis and data collection to support mine growth.
- Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
- Conduct oneself in accordance with Newmont’s Values and all company procedures and policies.
- Review mine layouts as part of design sign off processes.
- Create conceptual designs and sequences of active and future mining areas.

**Training & Experience**:

- Technical degree in a mining-related field with specialization in underground mining methods
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an operating underground mine (preferred)
- Understand principals of mine ventilation systems, ground control systems, and underground longhole drill and blast design,
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, listening)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision making abilities
- Efficient using, Deswik CAD, IS, SCHED, or equivalent software
- Underground work experience considered an asset
- Ability to positively interact with co-workers and team members

**Working Conditions**:
**The work schedule for this position is 14 days on, 14 days off, working 12-hour days.**
