**Job Description**:
**POSITION PURPOSE**

This position is responsible for partnering closely with branch programs to lead, develop and support the delivery of program engagement plans, communications strategies and associated activities that improve awareness of branch programs and services to the organization, external partners, residents and businesses.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Collaborates with stakeholders and follows the corporate strategic leadership, planning and direction related to this function.
- Leads the development and delivery of program engagement plans and communication strategies for the Branch and its programs.
- Partners with branch management and others in the organization to develop and deliver campaigns, projects and products that improve awareness and engagement with branch programs.
- Plans, delivers and supports events and campaigns that help programs to engage target audiences.
- Creates or edits all departmental content that is posted to the internet and intranet portal, including program updates, educational campaigns and promotions.
- Develops and delivers social media strategies to effectively promote the work of the branch, team/staff awards and successes
- Represents branch programs outwardly in a professional manner and in accordance with corporate standards.
- Works with corporate partners and branch management to define the role of programs in corporate and multi-departmental communications and engagement-related initiatives.
- Partners with branch programs and communications staff in other departments to influence and secure support for program objectives from program stakeholders (both internal and external to the Region).
- Monitors changes to program priorities and provides advice to the Manager to optimize engagement or improve program awareness and reputation.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Successful completion of a University Degree in Public Relations, Communications, or related discipline or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five (5) years progressive experience working in public relations, communications or a related field.
- Experience with communications or program engagement planning, executive-level business planning advice and support, issues management, stakeholder relations and social media.
- Strong writing skills including experience in speechwriting, presentation and media relations.
- Strong project management and coordination skills to manage competing interests and changing priorities.
- Proven political acuity and skills to handle and avoid contentious issues.
- Demonstrated ability corporate core competencies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current communication theory, processes and practices including internal and external communications, media relations and social media.
- Ability to foster creative thinking and leverage networks and experiences in other jurisdictions to stay ahead of the curve; demonstrate an understanding of external influences, trends in other jurisdictions and opportunities to improve program and service delivery.
- Advanced proficiency in virtual platforms and Microsoft Office suite including the use of virtual platforms for conducting meetings and/or presentations.
