Derivative Analyst

**What is the opportunity?**

This position completes the reconciliation and control functions for Derivative Products within the Fund Accounting Support Team. The person would be responsible for providing timely investigations and updates within stated deadlines. Also responsible for reviewing and analyzing the accounting of all transactions and assisting with the daily, monthly and annual administration of derivatives, as well as highly complex portfolios that deal in hedge and mutual funds. This role requires frequent collaboration with other internal operations and investment teams and external service providers (e.g., fund accounting, agents, and auditors).

**What will you do?**
- Performs day to day processing and analysis of Alternative products, including a variety of Derivatives products and term loans
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of Reporting, and to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of accounting for performance and exposure analysis.
- Performs Accounting functions including control and updating the general ledger, appropriate review, analysis of profit and loss (P&L) and reconciliation break clearance.
- Monitor net cash flows for the various products.
- Calculate mark to market (MTM) for all open positions and posting to respective reporting platforms.
- Ensure compliance to Client’s Trust Agreements and relevant disclosure documents as it relates to service delivery and adherence to industry regulations and guidelines.
- Perform daily reconciliation of a variety of Derivatives products including Forwards, Futures, Options, Swaps and Structured Products
- Escalate breaks to the appropriate parties as per procedure
- Assess Net Asset Value and Market Value calculations for Derivative products being reconciled
- Monitor and maintain group inbox for internal and external queries
- Verify terms and details of Derivatives products including Forwards, Futures, Options and Swaps
- Generate derivative reports for the Fund Accounting and Custody Reporting groups
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives as required

**What do you need to succeed?**

**Must-have**
- Minimum 1 year Derivatives experience including experience with year-end processes, audit, transitions and mergers.
- Strong understanding of how to calculate MTM for all open positions for Derivative products
- Understanding the performance of a portfolio and ability to decompose the P&L
- Investment accounting experience
- Computer Skills: MS office, knowledge and experience with Derivatives systems and integration
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Accurate and detail oriented
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Flexibility to meet scheduled shift work

**Nice to have**
- Securities experience
- Enrolment in CGA/CMA/CFA or other recognized accredited program
- Successful completion of the CSC
- Working knowledge of GAAP
