**FRESH Library Worker**

**Position**: FRESH Library Worker

**Description**:
FRESH ( Finding Recovery through Exercise, Skill and Hope ) is a peer based, activity
- oriented recovery program offered by The Gerstein Crisis Centre.

The FRESH library project worker is responsible to the manager of the program and may take direction from library staff for carrying out duties and responsibilities. The FRESH library worker will facilitate both group and one-to-one activities for FRESH library participants and may be required to work in two or more targeted libraries in the downtown core.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Meaningful involvement with mental health and or substance use issues.
- A demonstrated interest for physical activity, knowledge/skills building and social/community involvement as wellness tools.
- A demonstrated ability and willingness to work collaboratively with participants and partner agencies.
- A demonstrated capability to be respectful and flexible with participants and co-workers.
- Strong professional boundaries.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Overall, the FRESH library project worker is responsible for connecting with participants through the facilitation of group activities that may include in-house movie socials, art groups and active listening.
- The FRESH library worker may also be responsible for connecting participants to other FRESH activities and should have an understanding of the FRESH infrastructure.
- Furthermore, the FRESH library worker may be responsible for facilitating off-site activities such as gym groups, and AGO/ROM visits.

**Specific Duties**:
**Direct Service**
- Develop and implement appropriate programing for participants and groups in regards to activities, knowledge/skill building and community/social involvement.
- Arrange linkages and referrals to appropriate resources.
- Inform participants about resources to facilitate self-referrals, as required.
- Maintain records and statistics as per standards required by Gerstein Centre and The FRESH Library Project.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of community resources, internal policies and procedures, agency protocols and share relevant information with other staff.
- Disseminate information about the Centers FRESH Program to participants and staff.
- Participate in the internal and external training required to develop and maintain appropriate current skills and knowledge.
- Liaise with a variety of services and resources as a Gerstein Centre FRESH Program representative.

**Indirect Service**
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of community resources, internal policies and procedures, agency protocols and share relevant information with other staff.
- Disseminate information about the Centers FRESH Program to participants and staff.
- Participate in the internal and external training required to develop and maintain appropriate current skills and knowledge.
- Liaise with a variety of services and resources as a Gerstein Centre FRESH Program representative.
