Bethesda’s Adult Clinical Services requires one (1) Full Time Contract Speech-Language Pathologist. The duration of this contract is 12 months.

Since 1937, Bethesda has operated as a non-profit charitable organization consisting of a network of residential supports providing long term care and respite support throughout Niagara, as well as specialized clinical services for children and adults with developmental disabilities across the West Region communities of Niagara, Hamilton, Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk; and First Nations communities of Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation.

Bethesda’s Adult Clinical Services is an interdisciplinary team comprised of speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, nursing, social work, and behaviour services, committed to providing quality client-centred care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Hamilton, Niagara, Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk regions.

**POSITION OBJECTIVE**:
Working to promote Bethesda’s values, vision and mission statement, the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will be responsible for conducting assessments and implementing intervention plans for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are referred to our service, as well as caregiver and community education.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provide in-person and virtual assessment, consultation, and intervention services to adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and a broad range of communication needs
- Develop and deliver trainings and workshops to provide communication strategies to caregivers and supports within the community
- Implement group and individual treatment programs targeting speech, language, augmentative-alternative communication (AAC), fluency, and social communication goals
- Conduct swallowing assessments, as needed
- Conduct hearing screenings, as needed
- Work collaboratively with other clinical team members to develop and deliver interdisciplinary service plans and programs
- Initiate/recommend referrals to internal and external services, as appropriate
- Attend team meetings as scheduled
- Any other duties as assigned

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university program
- Registration with the College of Audiologists & Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
- 2 - 3 years’ experience an asset
- Background in intellectual and developmental disabilities an asset
- Strong computer skills
- Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
- First Aid an asset
- Valid G license
